چکیده
The article by Nazerian et al 1 in this issue of CHEST (see page 950 ) strives to demonstrate that “multiorgan ultrasonography sensitivity is signifi cantly superior to that of lung, heart, and leg vein ultrasonography alone,” and aims to establish “a diagnostic algorithm based on multiorgan ultrasonography for patients with suspected pulmonary embolism [PE].” 1 We itemize some limitations of this report. First, thoracic ultrasound (TUS) was performed mainly on supine patients, although most of the lesions described were located posteriorly . 1 Only 70% of the subpleural lung is visible by TUS, 2

Evaluation of CT angiography findings in the patients with clinical diagnosis of pulmonary thromboembolism
Background and Aim: Pulmonary thromboembolism is an important clinical problem in the patients after major surgeries and is often difficult to diagnose because of nonspecific clinical symptoms. Diagnosis of pulmonary embolism is based on medical imaging methods. The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of CT pulmonary angiographies of the patients with primary clinical diagnosis of pul...
متن کاملPulmonary Embolism with Abdominal Pain and ST Elevation: A Case Report
Pulmonary embolism is considered as a great masquerader due to its frequent nonspecific signs and symptoms. Typically pulmonary embolism is under-diagnosed or over-diagnosed. In this study a patient with pulmonary embolism is reported in which the patient exhibited two unusual manifestations namely; right upper quadrant abdominal pain and ST-T elevation in anterior precordial leads. Due to the ...
متن کاملDiagnosis of thromboembolic disease: Combined ventilation perfusion lung scan and compression ultrasonography
The clinical management of pulmonary embolism and deep venous thrombosis of the legs are similar and requires prolonged anticoagulation therapy. The standard diagnostic approach in patients suspected of pulmonary embolism is ventilation-perfusion (V/Q) lung scan and compression ultrasonography to detect deep venous thrombosis. This retrospective study analyzed the role of V/Q lung scan an...
متن کاملPrevalence of Pulmonary Embolism among Patients Hospitalized for Syncope.
BACKGROUND The prevalence of pulmonary embolism among patients hospitalized for syncope is not well documented, and current guidelines pay little attention to a diagnostic workup for pulmonary embolism in these patients. METHODS We performed a systematic workup for pulmonary embolism in patients admitted to 11 hospitals in Italy for a first episode of syncope, regardless of whether there were...
متن کاملPulmonary Embolism as a Complication after radiofrequency catheter ablation Study: A Case Report
Pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) is a fatal condition that may rarely occur due to complications of coronary catheter insertion. In this case report, a 41-year-old male was presented 48 hours after radiofrequency catheter ablation(RFCA) for the management of Wolf-Parkinson-White syndromewith acute onset of dyspnea, hemoptysis, and chest pain. The physical examination revealed coarse crackles in ...
